Our Eco Team

 

This is our second team of pupils elected to represent our Eco Group! The team consists of 2 members from each class, who are elected by their peers and is lead by Miss Eveleigh, one of our Class 1 teachers.
In the New Year we will have details about projects they would like to undertake and information about how we can help not only the global environment but also our local enviroment.

The children had a special treat in June 07 when we had a visit from Recycler the Robot. He gave us lots of examples and information on how we can, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle our waste.

Our first team of Eco Warriors made a great start by promoting recycling and conserving energy. Each class has a box for recycling all of their scrap paper which is collected on a regular basis. The group has also produced some great posters to remind and encourage us all to turn off lights and computers when they are not in use. The Warriors make a daily check at lunch time to highlight any areas that are not conserving energy as well as they should!!

Our Ecco Warriors make daily visits to the classrooms to collect fruit waste for our compost bin. It won't be long before we shall be making good use of our own compost in our vegetable patch.

 

The Eco group along with the School Association, have been nurturing the raised beds. We have had some beautiful flowers and yummy vegetables from their efforts.

 

This bumper crop of carrots was harvested and eaten by the children.
